I always really loved the game ‘Firewatch’ by Campo Santo, and after playing it, I felt really inspired to do a nature scene.
This scene was the first time I really got to experiment with getting a stylized scene into Unreal Engine, I also started experimenting with substance designer, and made my rock textures with it.
I also recreated the custom atmospheric fog they had in the game.
It takes a texture in account, and reads it horizontally from beginning to start. this way, we can create certain vibes/moods dynamically. I will certainly keep working and expanding on this post process filter.
It was a very fun project to work on, and I learned a lot about stylized materials in Unreal.
With this knowledge, I’m now working on recreating graphic novel styles and converting them to Unreal. Screenshots will follow.
